This page includes lots of examples of how you can get involved with the Oaks Meadow Project. Details of what to do if you're interested are at the bottom of the page.

Working parties

With a four-acre site there is plenty of healthy outdoor work involved in creating our new woodland and gardens and maintaining them.

So far have planted more than 300 trees and hedging plants thanks to the efforts of community volunteers and students from Suffolk New College (Suffolk Rural).

Thrive at the Mix students got involved on site and made us hedgehog and bug hotels.

Staff at the Sicon Foundation provided trees and helped to plant our community orchard.

Keeping an eye on key areas of the meadow in a ‘guardian’ role

Bill Baldry looks after the orchard area.

Cheryl Edwards is taking a lead on planting and maintenance in the reflective space as well as laying the new paths.

Sue Reynard is getting our vegetable patch established.

Community Group Indigo Opportunites  have designed and maintain their own garden area.

Volunteering time and skills to help with special projects

Kev Brand used his plumbing skills to install our composting toilets.

Chris Knock advised  on and dug our wildlife pond.

Catherine Scarff from Burnt Hill Vineyard kindly mows our green paths.

Jonathan Cook uses his skills and safety training to help us with some of the heavy duty jobs that require a chain saw.
